About TAL Training:

We are an established and approved training body, providing professional instruction by I.T.S.S.A.R. approved Instructors, to a wide variety of transport companies, agencies and individuals throughout our region. Our aim is to provide value for money training and to use lift trucks, which are compatible with what is generally used throughout the industry.

The information on this page is a step-by-step guide to getting you your Fork Lift Truck Operators Certificate; it is also designed to answer all your questions. Course objective:

To enable operators to operate FLT safely and confidently, the trainee on completion of the course will be expected to have attained a level of operating skill, which will comply with the standard laid down by the Independent Training Standards Scheme & Register (I.T.S.S.A.R). The operator’s certificate is recognised and approved by the Health & Safety Executive.

Who is the course designed for:  

This practical course is designed for novice drivers over 17 years of age; experienced operators who need a Certificate of Competence; drivers who need Refresher training.

Introduction to the Lift Truck

Operator’s Safety Code

Operator’s daily inspections

Principles of safe working

Principles of lifting

Development of operating skills

Assessment of operating skills

Joint committee of Industry Training Boards Tests 

Duration: 

Dependent on the level of competence:

Complete novice:                 5 days.

Limited experience:             2 ½ days. * (Received no formal training/test)

Previously certified:             1day. *       (* Each discipline)

Training is available at our training centre: Globe II Business Centre, Maltravers Road, Sheffield, S2 5AZ. alternatively, on customer’s own premises.

Timetable:

One-Day Course:          

Daily – 9am – 16:30pm

Two & Half Day Course:

Option 1:          Mon, Tue, 09:00 - 16:30 & Wed, 9:00 - 12:30   
Option 2:          Wed, 13:00 - 16:30 & Thu, Fri – 09:00 - 16:30

Five-Day Course:          

Monday to Friday – 09:00 - 16:30 daily

COURSE FEES

One-day course for operators previously certified by I.T.S.S.A.R:

Our premises – per person:
£150.00 + VAT @ 20% = £30.00        TOTAL      £180.00

Two and a half-day course for operators who have a limited amount of experience, but no formal training/test:

Our premises – per person
£300.00 + VAT @ 20% = £        60.00                                       TOTAL      £360.00

Five-day course for the complete novice:

Our premises – per person £400.00 + VAT @ 20% = £80.00 TOTAL      £480.00

PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Please note that all course and training fees must be paid in advance.

To confirm the course booking a deposit of £100.00 must be received 7 days before the course begins.

The remaining course fees must be paid in full on the FIRST day of the course.

In the event of a lesson or test being aborted due to mechanical failure, then customers will only be charged for the tuition received and TAL will supply another test free of charge.

TAL reserves the right to re-arrange lessons/tests in the event of unforeseen circumstance (e.g. adverse weather conditions, sickness, etc.)

In the event of non-attendance, TAL reserve the right to charge customers for tuition/tests booked.If customers arrive late for lessons, TAL reserve the right to finish at the scheduled time and charge in full for the time booked.
